Gentlemen;
    Will the small Swiss buttplate fit the fastory stock inletted for the standard crescent buttplate? They look very similar, but of course that may mean nothing.

FWIW......
I believe there were at least two versions, one with a short top tang and the other with a long top tang. In addition I believe there was at least one & maybe two versions of the large Swiss plate. It's my information that both are interchangeable with their respective standard crescent plates.

I personally have never seen a large crescent plate on any single shot Winchester, only on the 1876 and 1886 models. Not saying they were never used on the 1885s, just saying that I've never seen one. The large crescent plate has a small reverse curve at the bottom and the examples I've seen have had the long top tang. The new Uberti high walls I've seen have had the large crescent plate with the sliding trap door.

  I have one highly valued original interchangeable swiss buttplate (long tang) for my high-walls and it has been on at least four different stocks I recall...they fit as well as any standard (crescent to crescent) interchanges and I just use it as needed.  BTW, the one from CPA could conceivably be worked to fit; you would just have to use the original crescent as your filing guide.
