I'm just getting into the cast bullet game.  Can anyone suggest an appropriate mold for the .22 Hornet (.224).

I have a Lyman mould that cast a nice flat base 45 gr bullet , it drops from the mould at .225--nice looking bullet , shoots good.  ledball

Have been using the Lyman #225438 as cast from my mould at 46 gr.  Works well in both my Hornet and .222.

Might have to learn new casting technique...lot of difference pour 500 gr. vs 46 grain...that the fun of this game!

Hornets with Jacketed bullets can be frustrating.  My experience dictates , that you must drink when you shoot cast bullets in a Hornet. Anything to kill the pain. Ever pinch a finger seating a bullet. I have tried the Lyman 225438 and never gotten anything better than 3"-4" inches @100.  I used Lil Gun. However,  it is fun to take on a challenge.

Thanks for the input, guys.  It looks like I'm off to Lyman for a mould.
