I must admit that it is interesting that the official targets are classified documents. I find it even more interesting that a Board member and regular member feel that secrecy is the way to promote membership. Obviously, a prospective member might actually be interested in seeing just exactly what they will be required to shoot at in competition. Makes perfect sense. In fact when I shot IHMSA, we always told prospective members that the targets were the size of elephants and painted purple.

(Inject heavy sarcasm)
I was the non-member that PM'ed Mr. Creedmore and instead of a reply that would perhaps shed light on the issue, all I received was silence. This thread materialized a bit later.
Quote from the ASSRA website.
“The American Single Shot Rifle Association (ASSRA) was
founded in 1948 as an organization that promotes the responsible use, study and preservation of single-shot rifles. These include original and reproduction arms from the 19th and early 20th centuries as well as rifles of more current design.”
I am very sure that this apparent indifferent treatment toward the unwashed, non-members is not representative of the membership as a whole. However if the shooting sports are to continue, then it is not too difficult as task to understand that encouragement of prospective members is essential to the longevity of the organization.
G'day
