Chinquapin Fall Match(es)
07/19/10 at 07:45:03

After a great time was had by all, the subject of expanding the schedule was broached.  We will definitely continue with the traditional last Fri and Sat in Sept match (9/24&25 this year) and are looking into the possibility of adding a second Fall match toward the end of October.  Is there any interest in this second match, and if yes, which of the last two weekends (10/22&23 or 10/29&30) would work best?  Please contact me via PM or at <gfrog53 AT yahoo DOT com> with the obvious substitutions.  I would really like at least a dozen shooters to make it worth while.  Remember, you must be present to attend!

   Charlie;
               I would very much like to support an October 2010 Chinquapin schuetzen match to be held at the Brushy Mountain Club in Gretna, Virginia.  The success of this verein's activities is self evident by the attendance achieved this June past.

      For scheduling purposes, I would mention that the Chris match at Thurmont, Maryland is scheduled for the three day period of October, 8, 9 and 10, 2010 which I'm certain you are aware of.  In essence, the remaining weekends in October are available for Chinquapin activities at your selection.

Thank you for your role in making these matches possible.

    Charlie and Jon ;

         The North-South Skirmish Assoc. 122 nd. Fall National Shoot is scheduled for September 29 th. to October 3 rd. , which is actually the weekend following the September Froggie Shoot.

         It would not present a date conflict with a yet to be scheduled, and still tentative, October Froggie Shoot.

Is this where the "Chinquapin" matches are normally held ?

I was at Brushy Mountain back in the mid to late 80's for skeet shoots , so I think it won't be that hard to find from the C'ville area of VA now !

Would it be possible to get a schedule from someone of whats available in VA for schuetzen ? I already have the Thurmont Maryland schedule . Denton Browning I think his name was used to have a couple matches at Fairfax Rod and Gun Club each year but I've not heard mention of them in recent years ?

Chinquapin is a great match.

Fairfax does not hold Schuetzen matches anymore There Colombia match moved to Thurmont Maryland,

Fairfax and Cavalier at Montpelier shoot a single shot offhand match monthly under the same rules, but it's not for Schuetzen rifles, Fixed ammo no hook plates or palm rest. Send me a private message if you want the details

In North Carolina it's Asheville and Charlotte. Pennsylvania gallery wintertime at Conestoga Southampton PA

6pt-sika,

    The established matches for Chinquapin are the last Friday and Saturday of June and September each year.  At the June match this year, it was suggested that we add a match for the end of October, and that is being considered.  We will definitely plan to shoot on 24 & 25 September and are hoping for 29 & 30 October.  Note that our shoots are Friday and Saturday shoots.

    If you will send me a PM with your e-mail address, I will put you on our list for match announcements, directions, etc.  We'd be glad to have you there!

           .   .   .you're not that far from Thurmont, and we would enjoy seeing you in Maryland, as well.  I saw the wheels, and .   .   .   .   ., sure, why not, it will be fine.  If it does the hills over there in Roanoke, bring it on !    Smiley Smiley

Later, meaning two weeks in Thurmont !

   Does anyone know whether or not there will be an October 2010 match at Chinquapin ?

   Calendars are filling up as we approach the month of September and hunting season is starting up here in the East.

   Morning Six Point :

    Will you be going East on your trip "out " ; or will you be heading West ?  Of course, your return trip will be in the opposite direction.
