Scope Blk. Distance?

Hello, I see top post has scope mnt. spacing chart.  I have a question:
I have a 1930 era prone match rifle.  Custom stocked for prone..sling swivel in forend..but styled more like a heavy sporter, than a strict looking prone rifle.  This has a 28" Pope barrel.  The scope blocks are as close as I can measure, 10.25"  between centers.   Why this spacing I wonder?

My guess is that since it's close to 1/6" per click, someone didn't measure right the first time.  If it offends you to not have an even click value, I'm sure that Steve Earle can make you a base that will get the rings right on.  Personally, I would shoot it and not worry about it.  You'll get to know how many clicks to move the scope pretty fast!   Wink

1/6 minute click was not unusual for small bore prone rifles. X ring is so small 1/4 inch clicks are considered by some to be a disadvantage. When I shot SB prone used a 1/8 minute click Anschutz sight.

The reason is obvious to me.  Pope and Parkenfarker were once in business together.  Pope did the barrel work and Parkenfarker did the scope mounting.  It seems so obvious to me.  Cool

Pope and Parkenfarker.

Historical research.  That'll be a dollar two ninety five.
