Scoring on #2 targets

Those of you who attend the Spring and Fall RF matches at Etna Green shoot the #2 score target with the lower sighter numbered 3. This gives 5 score targets at 2 shots apiece. Easy to score with a max of 250.
At center fire matches one must fire 5 shots at each of the 4 score targets which often ends up with no center in the target at all. Did they fire 5 or 4 or 6? Wouldn't it make sense to score the centerfire targets the same way? 2 shots at each for a total of 250 for the target. If we must have a 500 count then 2 targets must be turned in. Of course, that leaves the door open for pairing targets to get the best score. I'm not sure that's bad, after all it is a re-fire match. But if need be we could mark them in pairs or ?

I have no idea why the rimfire shooters decided to do that, but I don't have a problem with it.

What do the match rules say? Do they not call out the target and format?

Well, My concern came to fruition at the Western NY match last weekend. Walking back from the target stands and talking to Paul Schuttleworth he showed me his target and asked if I could see where two bullets went in the same hole. "I know I fired five". Later I pulled my targets and had three of the bulls with 3 holes in one. 1 was slightly enlarged, 1 was "possible, not sure" and we couldn't figure out where the 5th hole was on the third. Easy to see it coming. But, we are all so honest, it should never be a problem. Right.
