here's a pic of the engraving on my Colt Sharps.
The scroll pattern matches the limited factory engraving.

Very nice.  The engraving appears to have been done in the Colt Custom Shop. I've seen one other CS with engraving from Colt. It had a gold inlay rams' head on the left side with a gold inlay bears' head on the right side with scroll/border similar to yours. Is there a bear engraved on the right side of your receiver?.. Does your rifle have a CS prefixed serial number on the bottom of the receiver or is there a non-prefix number stamped on the barrel under the forearm?  What caliber is yours?

Check out this one:

Mine is in a custom caliber, 6MM Remington.
SN# CS3XX, it does have the bear on the other side.

Gorgeous work Aaron! I believe back then that Colt used more than one engraver, but had set patterns they offered, regardless of who did the work. That might be the work of the late Rudy Marek, as I knew Rudy and he mentioned he'd done some of those guns for Colt.
