I agree about the quality of the targets. They are MUCH better that ISSA targets. Most everyone that I talk to have complained about the ISSA target for IS matches and they offer no black targets for people that need them, because of eye sight problems.

I placed a order, last year for $220 worth of targets (not current price), the shipping was $75, 34% of the target price.

That seemed like a lot of shipping, based on USPS, current prices. I think targets would qualify for  Media Mail, making shipping even a better.

I know you say the printer won't ship USPS but, seems strange, since USPS will do pickups.

The shipping is a big expense for smaller clubs.

The target (minus The Parkenfarker name) is our
#5, 200 yard score target.  It is 8 1/2" x 11".  I have included images of both sides for your viewing pleasure...

It is my understanding that USPS pickup is free.  They are there to deliver mail anyway.

The targets are of very good quality and I like them a lot.  However, the freight charged is a killer.

Frank, I have an invoice for 300 BR targets.  20 cents each is the price, 29 cents with shipping.  Looks like 1/3 for shipping to the west coast is a good budget figure. Just the cost of doing business out here and the price we pay for living in God's country  Cheesy

Yes, that's right. I just ordered 6 cases of jars and lids for $70 plus $35 shipping. Just the cost of doing business.

I don't know., maybe some people enjoy paying more for things than they have to! Personally, I don't.

It would cost much less to ship media mail but. It also seems that you can ship the same package back to the target company for a little more than half what they charge to ship it to you.

Targets are not included in the media mail definition.

Nobody knows why UPS sets their rates as they do.  I suppose it has to do with travel time and distance.

I have no idea why the printer does not use USPS, but very few of the targets would fit in a flat rate package.  I'm sure he has his reasons and it is most likely more trouble than it is worth to use the post office in that area.

When I was in business, people would occasionally come up with schemes to save a few dollars.  Usually more trouble than it was worth to me.  Most of the time I rejected it.  If they didn't like it, I went on to job that paid.

The only complaints I have ever had about ASSRA targets is the black iron sight.  Shooters cannot find their shots  Undecided  That is why TRR shoots the BP match on NRA targets.  You might find a local printer that will print similar targets.  I'm sure none will infringe on a copyright.  When I have them print a copy of our TRR medal to use as a king target, they go over me with a fine tooth comb  Cheesy

Bob,
The way that I look at it, is that shipping is 45% of the target cost. That 9 cents, is 45% of that 20 cent target.

One of our ASSRA members is in the shipping trade and said the shipping was calulation to send the same package back to the address that it was shipped from, by the same shipping company and the return shipping was about 60% of the charged shipping.

I'm also suspicious of companys that don't ship at the lowest rate. I'm sure that I would get flax, if I sent my scope adaptors for twice what it actually costs me to send them. I know that some companys make contracts to use a certain shipper but, in thoughs cases, the company that makes the product gets LOWER shipping cost, not higher.

Bob,
We have no option to make our own. A record of any type, can't be shoot on a repro target.

Why would they include the cost to send the package back to the shipper? If they have that many returns they shold be out of business in short order.

Bob,
The guy had his shipper give him a price for the return shipping, to see if the price of the shipping was the same. It wasn't! The price was from Fed Ex, the same as it was sent.
