where to go

I'm bugging out.
I'm near Daytona, does anyone have suggestions to get me out of storm path, but not too far? Someplace in W. Georgia perhaps?
I want to get back as soon as the power returns.
I have my disabled friend and Rebel the Wonderdog to take care of.
Pack up a few favorite rifles, (can't take them all) some food and water, and go.
Aaron

The latest spaghetti plots aren't encouraging. Out of 20+ plots, most have the storm center moving straight north through Georgia.

But basically all you need is out of the worst winds and above flood stage.  Gainesville shows at 140 feet ASL on my deLorme maps.   Up I-95 to I-10, then west to I-75 and go north from there toward Valdosta.  You'll still be in the path but by the time it gets there it should have calmed down a little.

I-75 north to Tifton then west on 82 to Sylvester.  But NOT as far as Albany.  Been there.  Low ground that floods like crazy.  Sylvester is 400 AGL and no large watercourses.

Many motels in Tifton.  There's a Days Inn at Sylvester.  And a Worth Inn.

Weather Channel spaghetti plots here:

I wouldn't stop until I hit Kansas and then to only refuel for the drive to the other side of the Rockies....this could be the storm that tops Hugo!

Maybe.  I'm in Ohio, but some of the plots show Irma passing right by us.  Shocked   What's left of it anyway.  We do NOT need more rain.

I'd head NW Aaron! Not sure you're going to get away from it if you want to not travel too far!
Sure hope you and your friend survive unscathed, and your place is OK too!

Rebel,
If you head to the far Northwest (OR, WA, MT), take plenty of that rain with you! The place is burning up. It's odd how the weather patterns are shaping up this year. Good luck wherever you land.

thanks LD,
If you could PM me your address, the planes are still flying.
Actually, I've been very sick for a couple of weeks, and my "help" to put up the plywood over the windows has disappeared, hopefully I'll get some help in time.
By now, all the roads are parking lots and soon a lot of people on the hiways will be out of gas in their lanes. I'm about 300 miles from Miami, so people should be using up a tankful right about here.
Looks like I'm here for the storm. My home has good elevation and drainage, and the latest forecast looks a bit better for central Florida. Just had the gutters done too.
I remember how much the news worried everyone up north about blizzards that only dumped 10" of snow.
They got everyone pretty worried now, but I think for good reason this time.

Our thoughts & prayers are with you Aaron.  Is there enough plywood to go around?

I got the last 8 sheets at True Value 2 days ago.
Home Depot and Lowes are sold out. I have water, but they were also sold out at WinDixie yesterday.
Silly people don't know enough to fill jugs with tap water.
Got an extra 10 gallons of gas for the genset this morning, got a clue on a station that just got a delivery. Got a promise for plywood help for later today.
I feel pretty well prepared.
