So, you've decided to "bug IN", then?   All the best.

Thanks everyone.
Yeah, not feeling too good and got the plywood up later that I wanted to, now the roads are a mess.
Heading out to the grocery tonight, hopefully for canned food it will takes years to eat.
Still ready if evacuation is called,
Aaron

Well, canned stuff lasts for years and years.  If you don't eat it up now, it'll be good for the next hurricane.

Seeing the TV images of all the traffic jams in Fla makes me curious about the amount of planning that went into any evacuation orders.  When you tell 2 million older & affluent people to leave, you are putting a million cars on the road. If they each go 600 miles @ 20 mpg, that is 30 million gallons of gas.  How much gas is there in Florida?  How many gas stations?  How many gallons per station?

2?
Two tankers just came into port with 1 million gallons each, but you have to distribute it.
Lots of poor folk in the Keys, they work two jobs so they can live there. Life in the Keys is really boring, you can fish and booze, that's about it. OK for a bit, but it gets really old.
I'm at least 6 miles from the ocean, about 3 from the Intercoastal.
I don't think there's a problem there.
If we get 10" of rain my pool will overflow. Gonna check it out tomorrow and perhaps drain it down.
So far, so good,
Aaron

Sounds like the description I once heard of Grand Marais, Michigan.  "A quaint drinking village with a severe hunting and fishing problem."   Roll Eyes

Pool will provide beaucoup washing and sanitation water once it refills.

Are you equipped to keep your cellphone and computer charged up during the height of the storm?  Running a generator will be iffy.  We want to see realtime videos of the eye.

I'm only going to drain the pool down a foot or so.
Empty pools have been known to pop out of the ground, the water table is very high here. An empty pool is like a boat.
I have a car jump pack with a USB outlet that should keep a cell phone going if my genset runs dry or quits.
Latest forecast looks like we'll see about 100mph sustained winds here near Daytona.

Arron, I will take a Nor'easter over a hurricane any day. At least after it snow stops it does not take long to snow blow it away, then I am on my way.

Take care.

Kinda looks like a million man march. Thousands of folks pitched in to help down in Texas from surround states. They showed up with camo waders and jon boats towed behind good ole pickups. They didn't show up in tiny cookie cutter bmw's worried about designer coffee and their head down phone time.

Storm is moving little west of north.  I would go straight up the coast I 95 and rt 17 run a little east of north. As younger further north storm moves away from you and your angle is improving.

Down side is if turns east. That seems a remote possibility
