Borchardt Hunting Rifle

Just got my Borchardt back from Curt Hardcastle.  He restocked and rebarreled my 219 Zipper with a shot out barrel into my big game rifle.  It has a 25" barrel in 30-40 AI and weighs right at 9 pounds with a Leupold 3x9 mounted.  The rifle was originally rebuilt by CC Johnson in 1953.  Wood was supplied by Treebone.  I can't wait to go to the range Sunday to fireform and break in the barrel.  Besides Remington Brass I also have some Graf's loaded to see how they fireform using 180 grain bullets with a mild load for a 30-40 Krag.  This rifle along with my Stevens 44 1/2 in 25-35 will be my battery for this fall's elk and deer hunt in the Rockies.  Thanks Curt!   Grin  Tom

Pardon me for asking,
But, is that a two piece buttstock:
as in I note a seeming separation between the pistol grip
and the rest of the butt

beltfed, that shadow cut in the Grip is a basically the standard Sharps Pistol Grip configuration. Very classy when the grip is nicely checkered. It is a solid stock. HTH Regards, FITZ-G Smiley

You're gonna really enjoy shooting that rifle.  My 30/40AI is a Martini with an Ackley barrel and crotch-cut walnut from Fajen built back in '69. Scary accurate with 180RN Hornady and 49gr of H4831.  Have recently started working with cast--seems more fittin' you know.Shows great promise with the RD165 grainer, GC, using 2400, also  gave me a cloverleaf at 100 using the same bullet and 44gr of the 4831.  If I can ever find another Parker-Hale PH3A sight I'm gonna take the scope off and put a target sight on the barrel like my Cadet .357Max.  Enjoy!

Actually I've been a member for several years under another name and lost my log in info somehow and had to re-up.
