The Golden Age of the American Schuetzenfest

From the 1890s until the U.S. entry into World War I, the target shooting game known as Schuetzen was in its Golden Age. Rifle shooting contests were held at Schuetzen parks across the U.S. in cities large and small. With deep European roots, Schuetzen has origins that reach back more than half a millennium.
Immerse yourself in the history of the Schuetzen game, gain insight into how matches were conducted and acquire an appreciation of what it was like to compete in a Schuetzenfest of the Golden Age. Examine several of the famous old Schuetzen parks and re-live memorable Schuetzenfests of that bygone era. Learn in comprehensive detail, how to load and shoot the magnificent target rifles of that era for precision accuracy using methods in vogue at the tail end of the black powder era.
Increase your understanding of a former age through masterful visuals and descriptive narratives that throw new light on the history of the Schuetzen game and study of the marksman's art as practiced by legendary target shooters at the pinnacle of the Schuetzen era.

I am very excited to see this book.  I did a short article on the Chicago Sharpshooters' Assn in Palos Park, IL in the last ASSRA Journal.  That was only one of many Shuetzen Parks across the Midwest and the United States.  Photos of these parks are incredibly difficult to locate.  This is going to be a great add to my library.

I've admired Randy's shooting drawings (and all his drawings!) for some time! He's a very talented artist!

**Update**
I've heard the manuscript is getting sent out for it's last round of edits next week. From what I see it looks like it will finish out at about 350 pages with over 400 illustrations and photos!
I cannot wait to see the finished product. I'd like to see Randy do some sort of collector/special editions and a hard cover Smiley Fingers are crossed.
