Ken,
I think you have to determine whether it would be worthwhile to tool up for the 50 cal.  Is there much of a demand for that caliber in a black powder rifle?  I just don't see that many shooters using them on the line anymore.

50 caliber twist rates are all over the place. The 50 EX uses a twist of 1 in 56", the 50-100-450 started at 1 in 48" and later ones were 1 in 36". The 50 Sharps was 1 in 36". Most have a bore of .500 and the groove can be .510 to .515. The 50-70 was 1 in 42 but I found that this will not work with the loads that I tried. Twist rate can very a lot depending on bullet weight. I have been going with a 1 in 28 twist with the last few I have made but have not heard back as to how well they are doing.

I recently acquired a .50 cal 1:24 twist cut-rifled barrel from Green Mtn for my Borchardt .50-90 SS project. A very nice barrel...
