I' sorry, can't find the shrink pics spot, open it up and it has no screw hole or indication there was one, it has a spring and a screw in the block to stop the drooping lever problem. the screw in the lower front receiver seems to allow the block to drop lower and kick the extractor farther. found a magazine (The Gun Report) from Feb of 1992 that had an article concerning side plates by John Butcher, Thanks BT

Dutcher, you mean; author of "the" Ballard book. Is that piece on line, or do you have the original?

My fascination with sideplate Stevens is in how it locks up.  I think it is a much better lock up than on the later models.  The later models were engineered for high production at low cost and suggests new shapers and milling machines were installed which lowered labor costs. Wink
