On 10/18/18 the Board of Directors of The ASSRA approved a new course of fire. Cross Stick Rimfire Target aka "The Prairie Dog Match"
Cross Stick Rimfire Target

Traditional Class;
Rifles-Rifles and sights shall conform to ASSRA Traditional Rifle rules.

Unlimitted Class;
Rifles-Any rifle that is legal for ASSRA competition.

Optics-Participants may utilize any scope or iron sights they wish to use.

Ammunition: Only .22 short, long, or long rifle.

Equipment; The following pertains to both the Traditional/BPCR and Unlimited Classes

Shooting mats, spotting scopes, wind flags and cross sticks are permitted. Bipods, bench rests, rear bags and barrel tuning devices are prohibited. The ASSRA permits the use of Shooting Coats and therefore they are permitted for this event.

Cross Sticks: Two wooden legs, no greater than 1 inch by 2 inches in thickness and width or 11⁄2 inches in diameter, and bolted or tied so that the two legs are hinged and capable of pivoting. The end of the legs may be equipped with spikes no more than 3 inches in length and no wider than the edge of the crossed stick. One layer of protective material may be suspended or inserted in the “V” of the crossed sticks to protect the rifle. The non-trigger hand is considered artificial support when in contact with the ground and the rifle butt stock simultaneously and is not permitted. Sticks are to be inserted into the ground unless shooting facility necessitates use of “bench type cross sticks”.

Course of Fire; Participants will fire 50 shots on an official ASSRA target at 100 yards. Current ASSRA targets , #1 and #1 ½ will be used for this event. Participants will fire 50 shots (10 on each target for record). Participants will also have a sighter target that they may fire an unlimited number of shots on. Participants may return to fire on record targets at any time following using sighter target and vice versa. Participants may not partner with a spotter. Scoring will be according to “leaded edge”.

Shooting Position; Participants may fire from the seated, kneeling or prone position. Stools may be used by those 65 years or older, or if a physical or medical condition necessitates this. Seats are to be no more than 18” ground to highest part of cushion. No arm or back rest can be used during firing. All parts of the body are to be behind the firing line.
