One of the problems with JoeB data, is that it is only taken from one match a year and not all CBA matches, through out the US.

That would be like using data from just one of ASSRA's matches at EG, during the year and using that to say that it proves something.

This is a 5 year old argument that JoeB came up with but, he doesn't seem to understand that ASSRA matches, rarely shoot this event and that our even, if shot, is 5 five shot groups, not four.

I've never shot my rifles for group at 100 yds.  This is a 200 yard game.  Grin

Perhaps I have set the bar too high, lets see if anyone can shoot five consecutive groups one inch or better on the same day. If that turns out to be too easy then it can be reduced to groups of .75" if required.
The rules could be max rifle weight not over say 15 pounds and no barrel sleds, that should weed out the "Win at any price crowd"

Schuetzenmiester.
Now's you big chance to see if you can do it, black powder only, no duplexing 15 lb rifle, no barrel sled, easy peasy.

Hey Mick - I'm all-in on a discussion about a black powder group match but that intrudes on joeb's original post dealing with:
THE 5 SHOT 100 YARD UNDER HALF INCH AGGREGATE
How about starting a new thread presenting your challenge?

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

Edit
joeb33050 posted this Just now

I went through the six 2018 TFS match reports. Of 125 5/100 aggs, 4 were < .5". This is about what the National data shows.
The CBA nat group results come in: shots/group (5&10,, range (100 & 200) and class (PPB, PRO, HVY, UNR, HNT, UNP, and, seldom, LRH) 6 or 7. So, there are 2 X 2 X 6 or 7 = 24 or 28 categories.
The club match results add 9 (in 2018 TFS) clubs, expanding categories >200; and there's no way I know to present data sorted 4 ways.
However, 5-shot 100 yard aggs < .5" are rare, ~1/30. A hurdle.
(Excel workbook available on request.)

While I have shot a number of 1 inch 10-shot 100 yard groups with black or duplex, I wouldn't call it consistent. Those smaller groups are not exceptional when range conditions are favorable but not my normal either. The typical range conditions where I shoot it's a challenge to keep them in 1 1/2 inches.
Those 1/2 inch groups are a lot easier to shoot with my computer keyboard than they are to shoot on the rifle range.

BINGO
These are very true words.

Some ten or so years ago, Dick Trink sponsored a "Five at 200"  side match at Raton during the BP Silhouette nationals.
I do not know where the complied results are for this but if memory is near correct, some (few) very good groups were shot but none came close to 1/2 MOA in those years.

And of course this is apples and oranges being it was shot at 200yds on the Coors Schuetzen range - not at 100yrds.

I believe what JoeB33050 is saying and I could be wrong is that 1/2 inch 100 yd. 4 - 5 shot group averages are not overly common. But it also has alot to due with the CBA 4 - 5 shot group format itself being uncommon. I don't recall him saying it couldn't be done as he knows it has by the records that have been set in CBA over time. The current record and holder is Clark Ehlers and the 4 - 5 shot group average record is currently 0.388 and re-set by him back in 2006.

I will try your suggestion and post the challenge separately although I don't expect to be deluged with takers.
