270 REN in a Martini.

I have a new 270 barrel and was wondering about putting it on a Francotte C/F action I have and chambering it in 270 REN
I would be very interested in how you went about it and all the trials and tribulations of doing this along with reloading and shooting and how you did it.

"The DD" one of the moderators on the British Military forum is a retired gunsmith with vast Martini knowledge/experience and he would be able to tell you if it is possible. I am not sure if it would be safe. I will PM his personel email. He is always willing to help.

Nero,
YOU might consider a 270 REN, short, rimmed:
the 357 Maximum case is same base diameter as
the 223 case. One could use the 270 REN reamer,
Going just deep enough so that the maxi case,
when necked down, etc will have at least a .25" long neck
Etc.

Nero;
I am not a gunsmith, and I have never had a small martini in the 270 REN cartridge.  That said, I have had quite a few small action martinis, and several in .22 Hornet, the 270 Ren's parent cartridge.  I can't see much of a problem except finding a reamer.  The book "Cartridges of the World" has several suggested loads that look interesting.
I have a switch-barrel Greener in .22 K-Hornet and 17 Hornadey Hornet...I might have to find me a 270 barrel.

Oooppps.  you referred to the 270 REN,
which is a necked up 22 Hornet brass.

I was thinking of the 270 VJ/  270/223 when I mentioned
a rimmed version off the 357 Maxi brass

There are some numbers of 25 Hornets out there
used for the Quarter Bore class in Schuetzen.
But, why not a 270 hornet
