Hi bg7m, I like them to. Had one in .280 Remington I still wish I had. Then a 45-70. Used to rattle my bones with Elmer's load of 53 grs. of 3031 with a 400 gr. Speer. Didn't like the short barrel much. Should of had at least a 24" barrel. Someone made a short run with , I believe, a  26" tube. That would of been nice. Would look more like an Express rifle. Dale.

I have the no.1 anniversary model in 45-70 and need to find mounts for the scope. Are the no.1 mountsthe same height? That is a nice looking one as everybody can see. It seems to me that the no.1 and the 45-70 caliber go together. Iím going to try some 500and 600 yd practice when I get mine going. Your wood is looking mighty fine,I wish mine looked half as good.

The scope rings are Burris medium Zee rings and the bases are Burris, Ruger to Weaver offset bases. They are the same height. Rings came from Midway and the bases came from ebay.
