Just seeing who is going off the forum here. I have a table, my friend Joe Thurman is coming with me and I know Greg is planning on being there. There was some talk about a get to gather at some ones house . Is that still possible? Look forward to to show it has been to long since I have been there.

Rodney, you are ahead of me.
Planning a get together for Forum members, friends and family at my place on Friday evening, May 17th. Located about 20 miles south of the Show.
Nothing fancy, burgers and brats in the back yard. Maybe, a beer
Start about 6:00 PM, Food about 6:30.
There will be a couple of “Show and Tell” tables, so if you have something interesting, bring it.

If you will E-mail or PM me with an approximate head count, I will reply with an address and directions to get to my place.
Looking forward to meeting many of you.
Chuck

We were at Chuck's last year, and he and his wife put on a great dinner! Of course the real treat was Chuck and his wife's show and tell!
I try not to miss Denver, and we'll have the same 3 tables we always have in the middle of row M. Just to the right of the restrooms in back of main entrance hall.

This will be my first Colorado Collecters Show, and I'm pretty jacked!! I have heard about this show for 40+ years and can't believe I'm finally getting to go!!!  My brother invited me to go with him, and a Mauser collector buddy. I will be bringing a few single shot items for trading stock, so it should be a great time! I believe we will be there Friday and Saturday.  Cheesy

Need to either pay the early entry $75 fee for Friday, or be a member to get in at noon Friday. Since it's your first one, wasn't sure if you knew this.
Sat-Sun is open to everyone.

All I can tell you is wear comfortable shoes and throw a CLIF bar (or whatever brand) in your pocket or something to chew on if your not going to take advantage of the venders food.  At some point you likely have to break down and get something to drink.    Its not the size of the show that gets you (albeit 1100 tables) its the QUALITY of the show on top of the lack of potpourri and stun gun cracking..and in addition to the items for sale the quality of the various exhibits are always top notch!...and of course your going to have to circle back thru it a few times as things disappear and other things climb up from under the table on to it...

There is a lot of knowledge under that rooftop much of which will never make the pages of a book, take advantage of asking as many questions as you can if you have a specific interest, with the exception of a few cranks many of the folks there are eager to pass it on.   heck i'm just rambling on....but that's how excited I get... and I've been attending for 15 or yrs or so.....(just a young pup)

I will have two tables, in the back room not too far from George Caswell usually. Not sure of the exact location as of yet. I usually have quite a few English Single Shot rifles and related items and my friend I will be sharing the location with has a large collection of single shot rifles. I do not know what he plans to bring to the show. Looking forward to meeting all of you and catching up with old friends. If you need a spot to rest your feet for a bit, please stop in. We usually have an extra chair or two and enjoy good conversation.

Thanks marlinguy! My brother says he has it covered (I didn't ask details).  Smiley Either way, I would consider $75 to be a fair trade for the early entry!!

oodmoff! "Hands in pockets, ears open, mouth shut" used to be my mantra when we would go to the old Great Western Gunshow in SoCal (40+ years ago). I can't wait to see the single shots, and the display tables!! I usually buy lunch at the shows to contribute, but the energy bars are a great idea!!

The food is strictly a product of the venue. That said, the chili is good for lunch and the breakfast burritos in the morning;-) OK, I'll share this secret with the list. Just north of the far east end of the parking lot (on Washington Street next to the liquor store) is one of the best burrito shops in Denver. Most of the time they are not open on the weekends so get them for breakfast and/or lunch Friday.

Went to my first one last year. WOW !!! It wasn't cheap flying from S. Jersey but it sure was worth it. Met some great people there. Vall & Greg to name afew. Not going to make it this year or anytime soon I'm afraid. But if you are going this year and for the first time, prepare to be amazed. Unreal. Two days are better than one. There is so much to see. The only thing that's as much fun as my first time at the show, is watching someone else experience their first time at the CGCA show!

it's going to be quiet around here for the next few day with all the guys going to Denver. I Am not happy that I can't go  it's been a few years for me every year I say next year then something happens this year it was Gallstones and Pancreatitis. I was at the doctor's office the other day and they told me I was pretty close to not making it witch was news to me I never felt that bad? I guess that's why I spent 3 days in ICU.  ken

I got to meet Steve, Ben, and Rodney and an old timer (who has had computer problems the past year in getting on) and, of course, had several conversations with Vall. Helping at a friend's tables I didn't get a chance to get around much.

Great to get to meet several of you

Had a wonderful time!

Special thanks to Chuckster and Susan for opening their home and cooking skills to all of us! (I can still hear the Union Pacific 'Big Boy' whistle in the background)

Chuck's bbq skills (especially in a light rain) are right up there...but his attention to detail on his rifle builds are over the top!

Already look forward to next years show!

I can't begin to say enough thanks to Chuck and Susan for hosting a scruffy bunch like us at their home! The hospitality, food, and social event was over the top!
I got to meet some great folks at Chuck's place, both old and new! Nice to put faces to some names I've known for a long time finally.
Also got to meet and talk to a number of others from the ASSRA forum who stopped by our tables at the show to introduce themselves! It was truly a fun event because of those meet and greets at Chuck's and the show!
Just got done with a nonstop 1200 mile drive, so dead beat, and will post more after a catnap!

I also had a great time at The  Chucksters . Thank you again Chuck and Susan. The rifles Chuck builds are quite the masterpieces . I enjoyed the bizarre actions that Rodneys showed us . Maybe some of you who where there could describe yourselves along with your ASSRA handle so I could put  a face to a name . Thanx ,Ponderosa Paul.

I want to thank Chuck and Susan for opening their home up to us.  Great food, friends and stories.  There was talk of guns, trains and automobiles.  I am relativity new to collecting single shots and Schuetzen shooting and really enjoyed talking to everyone. I believe I was one of the few guys there without a machine shop and milling machine at home. A great evening! Thanks

Chuck and Susan, again thanks for allowing us to join the festivities!  You are a very gracious host - my son and I enjoyed the evening very much.  Chuck, the Farrow-Deats is a superior rifle and I hope it is enough to inspire me to finish the Farrow's I have going.  Susan, your hobby and ambition dwarfs what I do, I am in awe, thank you for sharing that with us.

To all that attended, we enjoyed meeting with all of you and whether or not you have any machines or a machine shop, you share similar passions and interests - still bring forth information we all have an interest in, just from your experiences.   I look forward to future meetings and recommend all the folks that participate on this forum to consider this gathering in the future.  Smiley

Thanks for the kind words. Susan and I would like to thank all of you for coming.
It was a pleasure to meet many of you and renew with others.
The Show and Tell was amazing: Paul’s Horr rifle and others, Rodney’s actions and casting process, Greg’s beautiful sights with very difficult machine work that he says are easy. May have missed others.
Vall to answer questions, Another Paul, who is a scope expert. This was stuff you will not see at the show and fascinating.

Oodmoff, Will enjoy the paper bag and note I did not offer to share, Thanks.

Thanks for making it a success and will try to do it again next year.

It was great to meet some of you although I should have had a “Huvius” name tag on as oneatatime did.
I was sharing space with Steve Bertram so maybe met some of you without knowing it.

Even though I am a British/Irish/Scottish rifle nut I had to admire the Sharps Borchardt display.  What nice rifles!

It was very interesting to meet all the guys at Chuck and Susans. he is a very talented craftsman and she had a hobby ( the trains that just blew me away). they also were excellent hosts. It was great to get to put faces to the forum names. thank you again Chuck and Susan. hope we can do it again.
this was the first time in 16 years since I had been at that show. it has grown some and for me was as good a show as I have ever been to.
