Would be interesting to know and it might be mentioned.in the book about him. What a remarkable adventure in life he must have and it really wasn't all that long back.

Sure, if you have read his 2nd book.
Among the books he wrote include:
Big Game and Big Game Rifles (1948)
    African Rifles and Cartridges (1948)
Pondoro: Last of the Ivory Hunters (1955)
Shadows of Shame (a novel) (1956)
    Maneaters and Marauders (1959)
But, unlike Bell, he didn't go to the Yukon, fight in the Boer war, fly a WWI fighter, wasn't a friend of Townsend Whelen, didn't travel Africa with Malcomb Forbes, didn't do transatlantic yacht racing in his 37 ton steel hulled sailboat, or hunt highland stags with a Model 54 Winchester in 220 Swift.
