Needed a Set Screw for a sight, not the smallest I've made but close.  2 that I will drop and not find and 1 that will be put to work!  3-56 with a .020 slot.  David

I make a lot of small screws (2-56 etc..) using a Levin lathe and microscope where I work. We have a nc lathe that makes most of our small stuff but they don't want to break a setup for a few. Not too bad when you get a good setup. And yes always make extras.......

Smallest I have made was a #1-72. First one fell into the chip pan and I didn't even bother looking for it. Fits in some Winchester model 12s

I've made them as small as 2-56 on my 9" South Bend lathe with a single point tool. I remember making one with 64 tpi but I don't remember what it was.

Done that.  It does have a glass cover that I keep taped in place after dumping them all out
