Certainly not one of the English (Britain) guns. I have two and they are both British proofed on the upper right side of the barrel forward of the upper hand guard.
Remember Remington listed that rifle in their retail catalog and anyone could buy one here for civilian use.

I have one of a batch of 10 that were bought from Bannerman in the late 50' or 60s. it has on marks except what was from Remington on the tang and is marked 7mm just in front of the receiver, and is quite accurate, others were re barreled , what a job to cut square threads---
