Buffalo Arms makes a shaft type expander for the more popular dies. I measure the brass thickness and the chamber neck diameter, double the neck thickness, subtract that figure from the chamber diameter and use that figure to order the neck expander; they make them to the thousandth. Use the expander on the cases and no more powder fouling on the brass. Here’s a picture of their product; (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I dont use the expander that comes with the dies anymore. i did a simple test and found the expander caused most of the cases needing to be trimmed. it is extra steps but i use a universal decapper and expand cases with either a lyman m die or a home made expander. and as everyone knows sizing isnt needed with breach seating.

Argie1891 now shooting the 25-35 I bought new Hornady brass and turned the necks. So once expanded to allow for the spring back. All being from the same lot and now all the same neck thickness it is not something I need to do again.

i keep looking for single shot rifles and when i find another one i will pick it up. i like the old cartridges. the only problem is brass and not many are really needed. i have 50 32/40 cases and sometimes charge them at home and put a cork in them to hold powder. the cork will not fit the 25/35 case but i can charge at the range.

I have always used one case for the past 23 years because depending on the day and the temp. and how much it changes through out that day. I also have to adjust my powder charge a few tenths either up and or down to have my rifle to stay in tune.

i am not to the point that i could benefit from adjusting the powder charge. wish i were. i would have no idea of what to do up down or leave alone.. heck i really am not sure i benefit from wind flags. seems one up close is blowing one way another in the middle is limp and at the target it is going the other. i sue the pray and shoot method. sometimes my prayer is answered and others not so good.

Just getting out to shoot and having a real good time is what's its really about either being involved in competitive shooting or possibly not. I have been doing it for so long I am getting ready to just go out and to enjoy a real nice day with my HiWall 22.

A couple weeks back I took an old Remington 41 single shot .22.it was so relaxing.

I made a little acorn that fits in where the primer pocket scraper that is not used fits. Just wring the case mouth each time so that it rubs the chamber and seals it. Same case all year long.

Ballards may be weaker,

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this:

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) $17 MSRP

And for portability...
(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) $55 MSRP

I have a Decker/Huntington press i use for some bench work already.the lee expander tool works good but NOE makes specific expanders for those that are like the m die

The Decker/Huntington press would be perfect to take to the range to touch up case mouths as needed during shooting. I use my Huntington with an M die to do the same, and just set the depth so it kisses the mouth.
The diameter of the expander is pretty flexible also. I just grab one slightly larger and don't worry about it being exact size as it's not expanding the whole neck.
