Cast Bullet Loads for .357 Maximum

Looking for suggestions on loads for cast bullet loads for a Ruger #1 that readers might have run across. I know, what works in another gun might not in mine but it's a starting point. Would be nice if it could work at 200yds.  I have moulds from Accurate Moulds, Saeco, & Lyman. Powders 4100, RE7, 4198, 2400, Lil Gun, 4227.

Wads or no wads?

With fixed ammo in a 350 Legend (similar  capacity) I'm using 12-13g  of 2400 with 200 and 250g bullets.Twist is 1-16 and accuracy close to MOA often at 100 and 200 yards with cheap light rifles. No wads or fillers.A few groups have been as small as .7" at 100 but at 200 I've yet to get sub moa.

Pic is typical groups. I've shot some much smaller.
I also used 14g of 4227 with a 245g  Saeco that shot about the same .

I've not chronographed the loads yet but my guess is 1300-1400.
Bullets mostly gas check but a few with plainbase shot about the same. saeco #351 was a good one in PB .

I tried the Lyman 3589 big dog but didn't drive them fast enough to be stable.its worth another try with more powder some day

Nothing special but a starting point.

MI-shooter what is your intended use. Fixed, Breech Seated or possibly both.

John
Right now I want to do fixed ammo for 200yds. Sort of a modern Ballard 38XL.

I have a Ruger #1 in 357 magnum but I run out of powder space with the longer heavier bullets so I thought I'd give the Max a try with cast bullets and maybe with wads. Thinking of trying 1200-1400fps. With jacketed, it's pretty easy to push 2000fps+ but cast does not need that speed.

Something different to play with.

Right, 350 Legend is a rimless 357 Max of sorts. I've run loads close to the Legend with jacketed but not thought of Legend with cast bullets. I need to go some searches along that route. I do have a Lyman 358315 200gr mould. It's a GC design so need to work around that if I shoot a match with it w/o a GC. I've heard good and bad shooting a GC bullet w/o a GC. Maybe a wad helps.

We'll see.

Thank you MI and I have absolutely no knowledge or experience on what it is you are wanting do. So unfortunately I do not have anything to be able to share with you but please let us know what you might find out.

I have a H&R with a 357mag barrel, opened to 357max, really long throat on the H&R barrel
I shoot mostly Silhouette with it, using the LEE copy of the RCBS 200gr GC bullet, with 10 grains of AA#7, the Israeli batch, or the same with BlueDot, knocks the 200yd rams down, reliably, shot off Cross sticks
on paper, the  gun will shoot 1-1 1/2" groups 100yds sometimes better but opening the gun for each shot makes for difficult to maintain bench accuracy, but on large steel doesn't seem to be a problem
I also use the SAECO 352 with the gas check cut from the mold making it cast about 200grains, plainbase
I do not size the brass, slide the bullet in a bit and use a Redding Taper crimp seater for the 357 mag/max

THANKS!  10gr of bluedot behind the RCBS 200gr shrank the groups immensely!  357 max in R#1.

I have a Martini Cadet originally chambered in 357 Mag and I re-cut the chamber the 357 Max.  Best cast bullet I've found is from Quality Cast Bullets - a 180 grain RN/FP coated bullet .762" in length.  At 100 yards I get 1 1/2" groups with 23.5g of 4198 and 18.5 grains of 4227.  Another cast bullet to consider is a 200 grain RN-GC bullet .920" in length from the Cast Bullet Shop.  Very accurate (1" groups) in my 35-30 Highwall, but have not tried it in the "Max" yet.  Both are .358" in diameter.
Sorry, no chrono info - too lazy.
