My First Competitive ASSRA Rifle

My first stab at posting a gun pic.
This is my 44 1/2 Stevens Schuetzen Jr. Model 52, 32/40 28 heavy barrel.
This was a very nice original I bought in 1967. Won my first ASSRA match with it in 1968 and have been shooting it ever since offhand and at rest. It still shoots very well. The pictured target here was the first one I ever shot with it using a clamp- on barrel rest in 2015.
My personal best offhand at 200 yards was a 224 x 250 on the German ring target about 25 years ago when I could still use a 20x scope offhand.
I will try and post some more rifle pics if anyone cares.

Thank you so very much for sharing Dennis.
While Barry Darr was here living with myself and my family he always talked about how much respect that he had for you.
A little off Topic but I also wanted to share his own personal feelings about how much respect that he actually had for you.
Had I had your personal contact information kI would have not posted it here but only directly to you.

And in case you don't actually know, Mr. Hrusosky is a "newbie" only in terms of the number of his posts.  In terms of his knowledge, willingness to share that knowledge, and shooting abilities, he's one of our best!

I have not had the pleasure to personally meet Mr. Hrusosky, but his reputation certainly precedes him. His name often comes up whenever we discuss these fine old single shot rifles.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Beautiful Stevens, and sounds like it shoots as good as it looks! I'm always amazed how some fine old rifles have been so well preserved, and still used in matches.

Dennis is the bottom of your pistol grip also checkered. My CPA Schuetzen Jr. is checkered and I believe it is 32 lines per inch if memory serves me right.
