Burch Match: 3 shots for score. McCoy Match: Of the targets entered, the best center shot is the entry in the McCoy match.

Guy Burch was an ASSRA charter member from Macedonia, Ill. William McCoy was an ASSRA  charter member from Sullivan, Ind.

Hill Match:  Single entry Summer only

Rupert Hill was an ASSRA  charter member from Warsaw, Indiana. He was instrumental in locating the original range there.

Hudson Match:  Single entry

Dr. Walter G. Hudson was a turn of the century offhand shooter of exceptional ability.

May Match: Re-entry

Dr. John P. May of Mt Prospect, Illinois was our third newsletter editor.

Niedner Match:  Single entry Fall only

Adolph O. Niedner was a famous shooter and rifle builder.

Zischang Match: Re-entry

August O. Zischang from New York was a famous rifle maker at the turn of the century.

Bartlett Match:  Single entry  Summer only

Named for Waldfritz Bartlett.

Beeson Match:  Single entry  Summer only

Jim Beeson was a benchrest rifle smith and former owner of our range property.

Brockway Match: Re-entry

Norman S. Brockway of Vernon, Vermont was a famous builder of muzzle loading slug guns who promoted early benchrest shooting.

Kelley Match: Re-entry

John D. Kelley of Williamsport, Pennsylvania was one of the foremost benchrest shooters at the turn of the century.

Rowland Match:  Single entry  Spring match

Charles W. Rowland was a famous shooter from Boulder, Colorado who in 1901 shot a  200-yard benchrest group of 0.727 inches.

Schoyen Match: Re-entry

George C. Schoyen was a noted barrel maker and gunsmith at the turn of the century.

Campbell Match: Single entry    Spring only (low score)

Named for Bill Campbell, a particularly amiable shooter.

CD Persons Benchrest Aggregate: 30 shots over 3 day .22 Rimfire only                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Charlie Persons was the longest serving ASSRA Board member and dedicated .22 shooter.

Benchrest Aggregate Match:  80 shots over 4 days

Crossed Stick Match descriptions:

 Squirrel Match: .22- .32 rimfire calibers

 Wood Chuck Match: Centerfire .22- .29 calibers

 Coyote Match: Centerfire .30 - .39 calibers

 Buffalo Match: .40 caliber and larger. Shot only at Fall Match

Class II Matches: any Benchrest Match shot with .40 caliber and larger                                                                                                                             

 Quarterbore: Summer match using traditional .25 caliber rifles                                                                                                                   

 Traditional matches: any of the matches shot with a pre 1917original rifle 


Re-Entry Matches can be shot an unlimited number of times  during any relay

Single Entry matches at only one relay during a match


The above matches are ones used at the National Matches at Beeson's Range.  Other Clubs descriptions may differ but the basic  categories ,  Offhand or Bench rest,  Iron sights/Any sights - Scoring/Grouping,  are common to all ASSRA Matches
